As Chief Executive Officer of Channel One Network, Kent Haehl leads the direction and strategic development of Channel One News, the George Foster Peabody award-winning news program, and its related media services. Kent brings to this role nearly 20 years experience within the media industry and a keen perspective on news media for young people. During his tenure at Channel One Network, Kent has led successful initiatives critical to building a high quality product within a unique environment. With his guidance, Channel One developed a comprehensive, multimedia program called “One Step to a Better Me” and “Make Every Move Count” in conjunction with the CDC to promote a healthy lifestyle to teens nationwide, empowering them with a deeper understanding of how simple choices made each day can have positive health benefits for life. Recognizing the importance of providing students a platform to voice their concerns, Kent spearheaded the creation of an interactive, on-air and online editorial franchise called “Question of the Day.” Question of the Day invites students to speak out on timely news topics. Kent will continue to focus Channel One Network’s efforts in media literacy for teens, and will work with the management team to provide tools and empowerment to the next generation of journalists. Prior to his time at Channel One, Kent has held senior-level positions in media development and strategy at InStore Broadcasting Network and the Meredith Corporation, where he also held prominent leadership positions working in the local television industry. |
